The Reading Drawing Guild invites you to the first Reading Sketch Crawl! A day full of sketching opportunities in the Center Park Historic District in Reading, Pennsylvania. Sketch Crawl events happen in other cities but this is the first for the city of Reading and a first for the Centre Park Historic District. With the district’s historic locations and rich history of architecture and beauty, you won’t be lacking in interesting subjects for your urban sketching. From a newly constructed Centre Park surrounded by charming buildings, churches, and streets to historic locations such as the Berks History Center, Stirling Mansion, and Charles Evans Cemetery.

Bring your preferred drawing supplies and crawl into the world of urban sketching!

FAQs

The Reading Drawing Guild is a collective comprised of artists with all abilities with a mission to bring people together for dedicated art time. Since 2021, we’ve been bringing monthly sketching sessions, drawing challenges and more to locations around Berks County & beyond! Join us on Facebook.

An event where a group of artists of all abilities get together and have a day of sketching around a set location.

Street parking is available throughout the Center Park Historic District. You are encouraged to walk but you may also drive and park to each point with available street parking. Please be considerate of the area and use safe practices when walking and driving.

Lunch is being provided by a local food vendor. TBA.

Any art supplies you would like to use. Supplies are not provided. Something to sit on is strongly encouraged, but not necessary. Other recommended items to bring: sun protection (hat and/or sunglasses), bug spray; chair, cushion or blanket: water or something to drink. Please keep in mind that bathrooms will not be available in this outdoor setting.

If there is inclement weather, the event rain date is November 2, 2025.

Learn more about the Reading Drawing Guild, a collective of sketchers based in Berks County.

Diane Faye

Your event host is Diane Faye, a graphic designer and artist living & working in Pennsylvania. Her unique illustrations and lettering are created traditionally with pen or pencil on paper. Faye & Co., her stationery company, began with the designing of custom wedding invitations in 2009 for select clients which then expanded into the card designs you see today. Her career in design has helped her to create quality designs and products.

She’s an avid sketcher and hosts monthly sketch sessions through the The Reading Drawing Guild and now the Reading Sketch Crawl 2025. She enjoys sketching on her travels and her favorite pencil is the Palomino edition by Blackwing.

Diane is an in-house graphic designer. She has a B.F.A. from Kutztown University and was certified in Commercial Art by the Berks Career & Technology Center.
